Shingle Style - Pricilla's Periwinkle
|
New House The house is detailed with red cedar shingles on the sidewalls and roof. The roof line is trimmed with boxed-out rakes and crown moulding with custom brackets below the soffits. |
The Details The windows are trimmed and painted to match the rakes and frieze boards. The windows have raised muntins on the exterior and the interior face of the glazing. The muntins create the shadow lines of a traditional true-divided light window. |

The Project It takes teamwork. Years of planning and approval go into a project to be built by the ocean. A civil engineer starts the design process by surveying the lot and defining a build-able footprint for the house. Lots located by the ocean sometimes fall into flood Velocity Zones. Additional foundation requirements for houses in Food Zones require the expertise of a structural engineer. Karl Anderson was the structural engineer on this project. He designed the concrete piers and footings that support the house. His structural expertise also guided the design of the steel beams and Engineered wood beams throughout the structural frame of the house. |
