Shingle Style - Hen Cove House

EXISTING COTTAGE The photo, above, shows the once existing cottage. It was a 30'x40' summer cottage with panoramic ocean views. The owners wanted to transform it into a year-round-residence. Construction was started in September 2000 by Sullivan Builders and is well underway. The photo to the right shows the exact view - Notice how the Renovated View begins to define the bold gable roof line, balcony and dormers characteristic of the Shingle Style. |
RENOVATED VIEW The newly renovated house sits on a new foundation. The interior spaces were reworked to create a more open functional layout. A new habitable 2nd floor was added which created an entirely new roof line and ridge height. The progress photo shown above shows the structure wrapped with new white cedar shingles. The new Shingle Style details are boldly expressed with a continuous base flare, custom human size curved brackets (rear of house) and the waved shingle pattern on the front gables. |

DETAILS Cheryl has been designing houses for 12 years. She has worked with numerous builders and home owners on Cape Cod. She always enjoys thinking through the details even when it is a simple Cape, Saltbox or Colonial design. She always takes the time to listen to the type and style of home an owner may prefer.
